how to decorate a baby boy and girl room together I am thinking disney but not sure what do you think?
My 21 month old boy and 4 month old girl are in the same bed room for four more years I need to figure out a way to decorate there room together. I was thinking something like a disney room with alot of the disney characters. Like tinker bell, all the princess, cars, nemo, shreck all of it I could find then putting disney on the cilling how they write it with dark blue in the back ground and white for the words. Any ways I was wanting pictures or more ideas and wondering if other people thought this was a good Idea or a bad one cause its two much.
You can do a lot with Disney. If you want a medley room, make sure it doesn’t get too busy, this may be for the little ones but it is still a restorative space. I would say that for this reason to consider how many characters you want to go with and stick with that number. Maybe deck out HIS side of the room with Cars, and HER side of the room with Princesses. Or go with a single movie featuring animals, which are loved by both boys and girls, such as Bambi or Lion King. If you get too crazy with your characters, none of them will stand out, and it will look like a big party in there, and the kids will never settle down in the room.
Maybe to get the whole Disney gang in there, look for a fabric that has them all on it and do decorative pillows, curtains etc. with that fabric, then pull 2 or 3 colors from that fabric and use them for the rest of the room in solid tones that complement each other and keep the rest of the decorative items minimal, and furniture lines clean and simple.
One thought I had, is that most Disney movies have their villain. How cute would it be to decorate your kids’ closets’ as a tribute to the villain of your chosen movie? (or if a medley…all of them) You know…cause…closets are spooky too! I would be careful to make them less than terrifying, finding a pic of the villain looking like themselves but smiling or whatever.
Other sets of characters that you could look into:
Muppets/Sesame Street
Looney Toons
Veggie Tales
NickToons
Fairy tales
Mythology
Bible Stories
Beatrix Potter or Frog and Toad
Bearenstain Bears
Dr. Seuss! The caution here, is going too crazy with COLOR.
Flintstones/Jetsons. How cool would that be, you could mix and match prehistoric with futuristic like a bean bag chair that looks like a big rock, next to a slick lamp that looks like a rocket ship. Or a contemporary modern seating piece on top of a faux animal print rug in the rough animal shape that looks like a hide.
NARNIA. I have always thought a Narnia nursery would be just ingenius. With murals on the walls of all the characters, the ship, the animals, and the centerpiece of the room would be…of course…a real working wardrobe which as we all know would be super functional.
Anyway, whatever you decide, ONE show, story, or movie is going to have plenty of variety for characters, colors, masculine and feminine touches. Don’t try to go overboard with an explosion of ideas. It will be distracting and look like you tried way too hard.
Have fun!
